Ingredients

  • 2 cans Pastene DOP San Marzano Tomatoes
  • 6 tbsp Pastene Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 6 cloves Fresh Minced Garlic
  • Red Chili Flakes (to taste)
  • Garlic Salt (to taste)
  • Cracked Black Pepper (to taste)
  • 15 Fresh Basil Leaves, chopped
  • 1 tbsp Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Good Red Wine

Instructions

1

Start the Sauce Base

In a medium-sized pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and red chili flakes to taste.

2

Sauté the Garlic

Sauté the garlic until it turns lightly golden brown and fragrant. Be careful not to burn it.

3

Add the Tomatoes

Add the San Marzano tomatoes to the pan. Crush them up gently with a spoon or masher to release their juices.

4

Season the Sauce

Season to taste with garlic salt and cracked black pepper. Pour in the red wine and stir to combine.

5

Add Sugar and Basil

Add the sugar and the chopped fresh basil. Stir well.

6

Simmer

Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer gently for about 45 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.

7

Serve

Serve hot over your favorite Pastene pasta. Simple, spicy, and full of Italian flavor!
