Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup olive oil (not extra virgin)
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

1

Make the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder. Mix well with a spoon, then pour in the olive oil and red wine. Stir until the mixture comes together, then knead by hand until smooth and non-sticky.

2

Shape the Biscuits

Form the dough into a ball. Break off small pieces and roll each into a straight line about the width of your pinky finger. Twist or twirl each piece into a circular biscuit shape and place on an ungreased parchment-lined cookie sheet.

3

Bake and Cool

Bake in a preheated 450°F oven on the middle rack for about 12 minutes, or until lightly golden. Allow to cool before serving. This recipe makes approximately 3 dozen biscuits.
