Ridiculously easy no-knead artisan loaf: crispy crust, fluffy interior — mix, rest, bake.
"Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside — the world’s easiest bread you’ll ever bake!" - Alexia
In a large bowl, add the flour, salt, and yeast. Mix well. Slowly pour in the water while stirring until a shaggy dough forms. Make sure all ingredients are combined.
Cover the bowl with a clean cloth (a ‘mappine’) and let the dough rest for 8–10 hours, or overnight, at room temperature. The dough will rise and become light and fluffy.
Preheat the oven to 450°F. Lightly flour your countertop and gently turn the dough out of the bowl. Shape it into a ball without kneading — just fold and flip until smooth. If sticky, dust lightly with flour.
Place the dough on a parchment-lined, upside-down cookie sheet. Use a knife to make two crisscross slits on the top of the dough.
Bake at 450°F for about 45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and crisp. The inside should be soft and fluffy.
Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly. Serve warm with butter or olive oil.
